Economist Intelligence Unit has once again concluded with the E-readiness rankings of 2009 to measure the quality of a country’s ICT infrastructure and the ability of its consumers, businesses and governments to use ICT to their benefit.

Compared to E-readiness rankings of 2007 two years ago, it hasn’t really changed much and Nordic countries are still the top dogs (risers in bold):

  1. Denmark
  2. Sweden
  3. Netherlands (+5)
  4. Norway (+8)
  5. United States
  6. Australia
  7. Singapore
  8. Hong Kong
  9. Canada (+4)
  10. Finland
  11. New Zealand (+3)
  12. Switzerland
  13. United Kingdom
  14. Austria
  15. France (+7)
  16. Taiwan (+1)
  17. Germany
  18. Ireland (+3)
  19. South Korea
  20. Belgium
  21. Bermuda
  22. Japan
  23. Malta
  24. Estonia (+4)
  25. Spain (+1)
  26. Italy
  27. Israel
  28. Portugal
  29. Slovenia
  30. Chile

All in all it seems that European Union thrives on its ICT rather nicely. Whether or not to believe the stats, is another matter.
