Apple Inc. is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Cupertino, California, that designs, develops and sells consumer electronics, computer software and online services. Its product lines include the Mac, the MacBook, the iPhone and the macOS operating system that ties the desktop side of them together.

Apple hardware has been my working environment for the better part of two decades, which is exactly why the posts here are rarely celebratory. A vertically integrated stack is a comfortable place to develop until the vendor decides what you need — keyboards with a touchscreen, an architecture switched underneath you, a default nobody asks to be able to change. Getting those calls right is what keeps the Mac a developer machine; getting them wrong is what sends one shopping.
